Colt Keith blasted his first homer of the season and drove in three runs as the host Detroit Tigers rolled to an 11-0 win over the Minnesota Twins on Thursday afternoon.
Keith's two-run blast in the sixth inning was part of a power show by the Tigers. Spencer Torkelson and Wenceel Perez also had two-run shots while Riley Greene, Gleyber Torres and Zach McKinstry each contributed solo homers. Greene also drove in another run and Dillon Dingler added three hits and scored a run.
Keider Montero (3-4) held the Twins to four hits and a walk while striking out four in 6 1/3 innings. Tyler Holton got the next five outs and Beau Brieske pitched the ninth to complete the shutout.
Detroit has gone 7-2 over its last nine games. The Twins are 4-11 over their last 15 contests.
The Tigers took two out of three from the Twins for their third consecutive series victory. Minnesota swept a four-game home series against Detroit in early April.
Minnesota starter Zebby Matthews (2-4) gave up seven runs and nine hits in six innings.
Kevin McGonigle led off the bottom of the first with a double. He advanced on a fly ball and scored on Greene's sacrifice fly.
The Tigers extended their lead to 4-0 in the fourth. Dingler doubled off the wall in left and Keith knocked him in with a two-out single to right. Keith stole second and came home when Torkelson jumped on Matthews' hanging curveball and drove it over the left field wall.
In the fifth, Torres drilled a fastball to right field for his homer. Detroit made it 7-0 in the sixth when Carpenter reached on a single and Keith crushed a Matthews changeup over the right-center field wall.
Greene smashed his eighth homer of the season with one out in the seventh, going opposite field off a Cody Laweryson fastball, for an 8-0 lead.
Twins catcher Alex Jackson pitched the eighth and gave up the long balls to McKinstry and Perez.
