Brandon Young threw seven shutout innings, Pete Alonso broke a scoreless tie with a sixth-inning home run and Jackson Holliday added a grand slam as the Baltimore Orioles halted a four-game losing streak by beating the visiting Seattle Mariners 7-2 on Wednesday night.Young (5-1) held the Mariners to two hits and two walks while striking out five. Baltimore has won seven consecutive games when Young has pitched.Alonso, Leody Taveras and Tyler O'Neill all had two hits for the Orioles, who had eight players with at least one hit. Alonso and Taveras each scored two runs.Yennier Cano finished on the mound for Baltimore, logging the final 1 1/3 innings and recording a pair of strikeouts as part of the combined four-hitter.Seattle, which lost for only the fourth time in its last 15 games, was limited to four singles. It was just the second time in their last 16 games that the Mariners were held to two or fewer runs.Mariners starter George Kirby was clean through five innings before yielding Alonso's blast at the beginning of the bottom of the sixth. The Orioles tacked on two more runs on RBI doubles from Taveras and Blaze Alexander.Kirby (5-6) allowed seven hits and three walks while striking out 10. Three of his strikeouts came in the sixth, when the Orioles posted three runs.Alonso has 14 home runs.The Orioles got to reliever Domingo Gonzalez in the seventh, leading to Holliday's two-out grand slam to right field for a 7-0 lead. Gonzalez gave up two walks and a single prior to Holliday's third home run of the season.The Mariners finally broke through in the eighth with Julio Rodriguez's groundout and Josh Naylor's two-out single providing a pair of runs off Grant Wolfram.--Field Level Media
