Shohei Ohtani pitched six strong innings for his fourth straight victory and reached base five times at the plate as the Los Angeles Dodgers blanked the Arizona Diamondbacks 7-0 on Wednesday in Phoenix.
Kyle Tucker had three hits including a two-run homer for the Dodgers, who have won the past two after dropping the opener of the four-game series.
Ohtani (6-2) gave up two hits, walked one and struck out six while dropping his ERA to 0.74. He has pitched 61 innings, one short of the number needed to qualify for the major league leaderboard. If he qualified, he would easily be the ERA leader.
Tucker hit a two-run homer in the second inning off Zac Gallen (3-5), and Freddie Freeman singled home two in a three-run third inning for a quick 5-0 lead.
Ohtani had three singles and drew two walks to extend his on-base streak to 19 games, during which he is hitting .438 with four homers, 17 RBIs and 11 multi-hit games.
Ohtani retired the first 11 batters he faced before Gabriel Moreno grounded an opposite-field double inside the bag at first with two outs in the fourth.
It was the first hit Ohtani allowed in 9 2/3 innings. He threw six hitless innings in a 5-2 victory over the Colorado Rockies on May 27, allowing one run.
The Diamondbacks did not get another hit until Geraldo Perdomo singled in the sixth after Tommy Troy drew a one-out walk. Ohtani got Corbin Carroll, his last batter, to ground into an inning-ending double play.
Ohtani has given up one run in his past four starts, covering 24 innings. His fastball topped out at 100.4 mph on Wednesday.
Los Angeles' Alex Freeland had three hits, including a two-run single in the seventh. Freeman finished with two hits and two RBIs, and Max Muncy had two hits and an RBI for the Dodgers, who have won 16 of 20.
The Diamondbacks have lost five of six and were shut out for the fourth time.
Gallen gave up five runs, four earned, and nine hits in five innings. He walked two -- Ohtani each time -- and struck out one.
