New Delhi [India], May 4 (ANI): The East District Police in Delhi on Sunday detained six Bangladeshi women residing in the capital city without valid documents.
Acting on secret information, a team of Mandawali Police Station apprehended one woman, whose interrogation led to the arrest of five others from the Paharganj area.
The arrested women have been identified as Mim Akhtar (23), Meena Begum (35), Sheikh Munni (36), Payal Sheikh (25), Sonia Akhtar (36), and Taniya Khan (34).
Deportation proceedings have been initiated against the women with the assistance of the Foreigners Regional Registration Office (FRRO).
Earlier in the day, the Foreigners Cell of Delhi Police in North-West district apprehended four illegal Bangladeshi migrants after a sustained and meticulous surveillance operation.
The arrested individuals, disguised as transgender, were engaging in begging and other activities at traffic signals to avoid suspicion.
Bhisham Singh, Dy. Commissioner of Police, North-West district, Delhi, informed that the arrested individuals have been identified as Md. Armaan alias Isha (21), Md. Arif alias Shilpa (26), Md. Jahid alias Mousam (21), and Md. Babul alias Pakhi (40), all residents of Bangladesh. During the operation, two smart mobile phones installed with the banned IMO app, which were being used to communicate with their families in Bangladesh, were recovered from their possession.
The individuals revealed that they had illegally entered India through porous borders with the assistance of agents and travelled to Delhi via trains. They further disclosed that they adopted disguises and underwent minor surgeries and hormonal injections to change their sex and appearance to avoid detection.
The arrested individuals have been handed over to the Foreigners Regional Registration Office (FRRO) for further deportation proceedings.
Further investigation is underway, and efforts are on to deport these illegal migrants. (ANI)
