Ranchi (Jharkhand) [India], May 4 (ANI): BJP spokesperson Pratul Shehdeo launched a scathing attack on the Jharkhand Mukti Morcha (JMM)-led government over the MGM hospital accident in Jamshedpur, where two people died when a part of a dilapidated building collapsed on Saturday evening.
While speaking to ANI reporters, Shehdeo claimed that the accident is a deliberate murder of poor people by the system. He stated that CM Hemant Soren mentioned in his 'X' post that a part of the dilapidated building collapsed, which means the Chief Minister knew, the engineers knew, and the administration knew that the part of the MGM hospital which collapsed was dilapidated, but still the poors were being treated in that area.
He demanded that the ones responsible for the incident be sued in the murder case.
'This is an unfortunate incident, and we do not believe that the deaths were due to accidents. These are deliberate murders of poor people by the system. I am saying this because the Chief Minister himself posted on X and wrote that a part of a dilapidated building collapsed. The Chief Minister knew, the engineers knew and the administration there knew that it was a dilapidated part. Why were the poor being treated in the dilapidated part? This raises questions on the entire system. We demand that whoever is responsible for this building and who did not maintain it should be prosecuted for murder. This is not an accident but a deliberate murder by the system', he told ANI.
According to officials, 15 people were trapped in the building, of whom 12 have been rescued.
Expressing grief over the incident, Jharkhand CM Hemant Soren in a post on his official 'X' handle, said, 'The accident caused by the collapse of a part of a dilapidated building at MGM Hospital in Jamshedpur is extremely unfortunate. May Marang Buru grant peace to the departed souls and give strength to the bereaved families to bear this moment of grief. A team of senior officials is reaching the spot under the leadership of Health Minister Mr. Irfan Ansari ji. Along with this, the minister has been instructed to take appropriate action and make an action plan so that such an incident does not happen again.'
Meanwhile, Jharkhand Health Minister Irfan Ansari announced Rs 5 lakh compensation for the deceased and Rs 50,000 to the injured. He assured that the government would take concrete steps to address the matter so that such incidents wouldn't happen.
'We have come on the instructions of the Chief Minister, our priority is to stand with the families of the deceased. The families of the deceased will be given Rs 5 lakh each as compensation and the injured will be given Rs 50,000. We will take concrete steps to ensure that such an incident does not happen again', Irfan Ansari told reporters. (ANI)
