New Delhi [India], April 26 (ANI): Noting that there always has been confrontation with forces that are 'blind, resort to violence and kill innocents', author Advaita teacher Acharya Prashant has stressed the need to control 'emotional reactivity' in any situation and said 'Gita is needed if you want to win a war'.
Acharya Prashant, who was honoured with 'Outstanding Contribution to National Development' Award at IIT Delhi, said that there is a need to know about the 'vastavik dharam' so that one knows what is to be overlooked and which wars one has to fight with all the might.
He said if one follows the right path and does the right thing without worrying about the result, victory is achieved.
'All the blind powers in the society, who take innocent lives, are far from logic and reasoning, who follow their blind faith and if someone does not have faith in their beliefs, they kill them. Wars with such powers have always been going on... Gita is the primary requisite if a war has to be won... If you follow the right path and do the right thing without worrying about the result, victory follows you,' Acharya Prashant told ANI.
'Fear is the first thing that goes away once you learn the essence of Gita, Adhyatm and Vedant... If you opponent in a war provokes you, and you retaliate in the heat of the moment, he has one half the war. You need to use your understanding of a situation and assess it accordingly... Gita says that if you are able to control emotional reactivity, that is when you win wars... When there is no place for curiosity in a belief system, radicalism prospers, and the person goes on to believe that his belief is the only truth, and the person who does not have faith in his belief system deserves to be killed,' he added.
He was asked about the Pahalgam terror attack.
The terror attack in Jammu and Kashmir's Pahalgam on tourists killed 26 people. The government has said that the terrorists responsible for the terror attack and the conspirators behind it will face severe punishment. Opposition parties have expressed their full support for the government in any action against perpetrators of the terror attack.
The Cabinet Committee on Security (CCS) met on April 23 was briefed in detail on the terrorist attack in Pahalgam. The CCS condemned the attack in the strongest terms and expressed its deepest condolences to the families of the victims and hoped for the early recovery of the injured.
In the briefing to the CCS, the cross-border linkages of the terrorist attack were brought out. It was noted that this attack came in the wake of the successful holding of elections in the Union Territory and its steady progress towards economic growth and development.
India has taken measures to send a strong message to Pakistan for its support to cross-border terrorism.
Answering another query, Acharya Prashant said it is pertinent to know the real meaning of a nation.
'The concept of nation faces many dangers and questions. Nation means instilling values in all its citizens, which are there in the foundation of the Indian nation. And the values in the foundational structure of our nation are of a very high spiritual order, which can be seen in the Gita and Vedant Darshan. These values have gone on to become the basis of our Constitution,' he said.
'To strengthen the nation, it is the need of the hour to awaken the values of the Gita among its citizens... This is why IIT Delhi Alumni Association has honoured me with this award,' he added.
Answering another query, Acharya Prashant said 'climate crisis is basically a spiritual crisis, and there is no technical, economic, or political solution to it. Spirituality is the only solution to it,' he added. (ANI)
