Patrick Kane piled up two goals and three assists and the host Detroit Red Wings snapped a six-game losing streak with a 7-3 win over the Buffalo Sabres on Wednesday night.
Marco Kasper supplied two goals and an assist, while Alex DeBrincat had a goal and three assists for Detroit. Vladimir Tarasenko and Moritz Seider also scored, and Dylan Larkin added three assists.
Petr Mrazek, making his first start since being acquired from Chicago, made 23 saves.
Tage Thompson and Zach Benson each had a goal and an assist for Buffalo, and Josh Norris also scored. Ukko-Pekka Luukkonen stopped 22 shots.
The Red Wings emerged from the first period with a 3-2 advantage.
Thompson's wrister gave Buffalo a 1-0 lead at 7:38, but Kasper put the Red Wings on the board just short of five minutes later. He tipped in Simon Edvinsson's shot from the high slot.
Kane passed the puck out of his own zone to set up DeBrincat's goal. DeBrincat collected it at center ice, advanced into the Sabres zone and scored from between the circles at 15:40.
DeBrincat returned the favor during a power play with 53 seconds left in the period. He delivered the puck to Kane, who fired a shot from the left circle past Luukkonen.
Norris scored 18 seconds later in front off Benson's pass from behind the net.
Tarasenko gave the Red Wings a two-goal lead again at 10:54 of the second period. He skated around the net and into the right circle, where he rifled a shot past Luukkonen. Larkin picked up an assist.
The Sabres moved within a goal before the period ended, aided by a four-minute power play. Benson scored off a rebound of a shot by Owen Power.
Detroit took advantage of another power play to extend its lead to 5-3 early in the third. Kane scored off his own rebound, which banged off the goalpost. DeBrincat and Lucas Raymond had assists.
About four minutes later, Kane made a steal in Buffalo's zone, leading to the Red Wings' next goal. DeBrincat set up Kasper, who scored from the slot.
Seider scored on a power play with 5:29 left.
