Ole Miss retired Eli Manning's No. 10 in a halftime ceremony during Saturday's 31-17 home victory against LSU.
Manning set or tied 47 single-game, season and career school records from 2000-03 at Ole Miss. He still holds career marks of 10,119 passing yards and 81 touchdowns.
Manning was the No. 1 overall pick of the 2004 NFL Draft and went on to a 16-year NFL career in which he won two Super Bowls with the New York Giants. Manning's No. 10 was retired by the Giants last month.
Manning still fondly looks back at his time on the Oxford campus. And he also easily recalls his favorite victory.
"So many of them through the friendships, mentors and coaches that I still talk to," Manning told CBS of the memories. "But beating Alabama here my sophomore year (in 2001), the first time in 12 years we had beaten Alabama, on a two-minute drive to beat them was a special one."
Each end zone at Vaught-Hemingway Stadium had MANNING painted on the turf.
Manning is the third Ole Miss player to have his number retired, joining his famous father Archie (18) and Chucky Mullins (38).
Archie Manning played at Ole Miss from 1968-70 and was inducted into the College Football Hall of Fame in 1989.
Mullins was left paralyzed by an injury suffered in a game against Vanderbilt on Oct. 28, 1989. He died less than two years later.
Highly regarded prospect Arch Manning was in attendance. The five-star quarterback of the 2023 class is Eli Manning's nephew and Ole Miss is one of the schools he is considering.
