BEIJING, Sept. 14 (Xinhua) -- Chinese stocks closed lower on Tuesday, with the benchmark Shanghai Composite Index down 1.42 percent, at 3,662.6 points.
The Shenzhen Component Index closed 0.54 percent lower at 14,626.08 points.
The combined turnover of stocks covered by the two indices stood at 1.51 trillion yuan (about 234.1 billion U.S. dollars), up from 1.46 trillion yuan on the previous trading day.
Shares related to HarmonyOS posted strong performances, while stocks in the sectors of steel, coal, and non-ferrous metal led the losses.
The ChiNext Index, tracking China's NASDAQ-style board of growth enterprises, gained 1.32 percent to close at 3,236.55 points.
